How can I increase my libido again after the birth of my child?

Dear team,

My name is Erika Voigt and I became a mother for the first time six months ago. Since the birth of my child, I have felt that my libido has significantly decreased. Before pregnancy and during pregnancy, I had a healthy and active sexual life, but now I have no interest in any sexual activities. I am worried that this could affect my partnership and would like to know how I can increase my libido again.

I have tried talking to my partner about it, but he doesn't really understand my situation and feels rejected. I feel guilty and frustrated because I don't want to disappoint him, but I simply have no desire for sex. I have also tried to relax, take more time for myself, and eat healthily, but so far, it hasn't brought any changes.

I wonder if there are specific exercises, medications, or therapies that could help me increase my libido again. I would like to experience a fulfilling sexual life again and strengthen my partnership. Are there perhaps natural remedies or behaviors that could help me with this?

I would appreciate it if you could give me some tips and advice on how to increase my libido after giving birth to my child. Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards,
Erika Voigt

Dear Erika Voigt,

It is understandable that you are worried and frustrated in this situation. The changes in the body after giving birth can have various effects, including on libido. It is important that you talk about it and look for solutions to enjoy your sexuality again and strengthen your partnership.

First of all, it is good that you have already tried to talk to your partner about it. It is important that he understands that your decreased libido has nothing to do with him personally, but with the changes in your body and emotional state after giving birth. Perhaps you can look for solutions together and also make time for intimacy and quality time together without putting pressure on sexual activities.

There are different ways to increase your libido again. Firstly, you could consult your gynecologist to discuss possible causes for your decreased libido. Sometimes hormonal changes after giving birth, such as a lack of testosterone or estrogen, can lead to a decrease in sexual desire. In such cases, certain medications or hormone therapies could be helpful.

Another approach would be to speak with a therapist or sex therapist to address any potential blockages or fears that could be affecting your libido. Sometimes psychological aspects such as stress, fatigue, or a changed body perception after giving birth can lead to a lower sexual desire.

It is also important to take care of your physical and emotional health. A balanced diet, regular exercise, and enough sleep can help boost your energy and improve your mood. Relaxation techniques like yoga, meditation, or massages can also be helpful in reducing stress and increasing your desire for sex.

In addition to medical and therapeutic interventions, there are also natural remedies that can increase your libido. For example, certain supplements like Maca, Ginseng, or Tribulus terrestris can positively influence hormone levels and increase sexual desire. However, it is important to take such supplements only in consultation with a doctor or therapist to avoid possible side effects or interactions with other medications.

Overall, it is important to be patient and give yourself time to rediscover your sexuality after giving birth. Speak openly with your partner about your feelings and needs, seek professional support if necessary, and take care of your physical and emotional health. With the right approach and support, you can certainly increase your libido again and experience a fulfilling sexuality.

I hope that these tips and advice help you and wish you all the best on your journey to a fulfilling sexuality and a strong partnership.
