What are the risks of breast augmentation?

Dear Sir or Madam,

My name is Jakob Karpinski and I am interested in a breast enlargement. I have been unhappy with my body for some time and feel that my breasts are too small. This is causing me psychological distress and I wish to gain more self-confidence through an enlargement of my breasts.

I have already researched the procedure and am aware that it is a surgery that carries certain risks. Therefore, I would like to learn more about these risks in order to make an informed decision.

I am particularly concerned about potential complications during or after the operation. What are the risks of infection or bleeding? How likely is scarring or an uneven breast shape after the operation? Is there a risk of loss of sensation in the breast or other sensory disturbances?

Furthermore, I am interested in the risk of implant complications such as ruptures or capsular contracture. How long does an implant typically last and what effects could a possible removal have?

I would greatly appreciate your detailed response to address my concerns and worries regarding the risks of a breast enlargement. Thank you in advance.

Sincerely,
Jakob Karpinski

Yvonne Richter

Dear Mr. Karpinski,

Thank you for your interest in breast augmentation and for trusting me to address your questions. It is understandable that you have concerns about the risks and potential complications of such a procedure. I will try to answer your questions as thoroughly as possible to help you make an informed decision.

First of all, it is important to mention that breast augmentation is generally a safe procedure performed by experienced surgeons. However, like any surgery, there are certain risks that I would like to explain to you in more detail.

Regarding possible infections or bleeding during or after the operation, I can assure you that while it is theoretically possible, it is extremely rare. The use of modern surgical techniques and sterile instruments minimizes the risk of infection. Bleeding is controlled during the operation and typically well treated.

As for scarring, a cut is usually made in the breast fold or under the arm to insert the implants during breast augmentation. These scars are usually well hidden and fade over time. Uneven breast shape can also be avoided through careful planning and precise implant placement.

In terms of possible changes in sensitivity or loss of feeling in the breast, temporary changes may occur in the first few weeks after the operation. However, these usually subside over time and normal sensitivity returns. Permanent changes in sensitivity are extremely rare.

Implant complications such as ruptures or capsular contracture are also rare, especially when using modern implants. The durability of the implants may vary depending on the type and manufacturer but is typically around 10-15 years. If necessary, the implants can usually be removed without major impact on breast shape.

I hope I have been able to answer your questions thoroughly and provide you with more clarity on the risks of breast augmentation. If you have any further questions or would like a personal consultation, I am at your disposal. Thank you for your trust and all the best for your decision.

Best regards, Yvonne Richter
